Big question

Welcome back, I know some of you might have found my post little boring, would have thought what am I up to?, well I promise that there is nothing wrong with me….. he he he, coz this post will crush your head.

Let’s assume Mr. God appears tomorrow and asks you to select one of the three choices,

Question
GOD: Here are the three options, select one and send me an SMS – Your wish will be granted. (The SMS is the funny part of me)
1. You can live only one day as a king, but at the end of the day you will have to leave the world. You will live by your own words for that day and you will close your eyes as a satisfied individual.
2. You can live 100 years but you cannot take control of your life, you can try to change your self to suit the given life.
3. You can live 100 years as a slave.

What will you select, to add some spice to the whole question theory I’m adding my definition.

If you select the first option, then you are an independent individual, you believe you are solely responsible for your life. You want to take control of your life; you live every second of your life that leaves a mark on this world. You will live and die as a king. You will swim against the tide.

If you select the second option you are not so independent, but you are positive. You accept defeats, try to change yourself. You are not in control of your life. You would like to live and die as a king (only like to). You try to swim against the tides.

If you select the third option, then you accept things happening in your life, you believe in fate and you strongly believe that you are chosen to go through this part of life and learn certain things. You will stick to your duty; you are basically a person who loves living a life no matter how it is. You will swim along with the tides

I will select the first option.

Till i post a new topic...
its bye from Anand.

An Interesting day...

Welcome back, today I’m drafting this post after thinking what a common man will do with the current price raise in the markets – be it daily consumables, Medical facilities, housing rentals, Transportation.

I was returning from US consulate – I stopped an auto and got in, the auto driver asked me a simple question which I liked the most of all the questions that he asked later.
He asked me “I don’t know something, Can I ask you a about that?”

I liked two important things that about his question, First he was straight forward to admit that he didn’t know about something and second he asked permission.

I allowed him to ask the question, the question was quite interesting one and it was “In the current Market condition, people say that 3 American Banks have closed down due to financial meltdown, more and more people are coming back to India from foreign countries, how come you are applying for a visa?”

I was really surprised to hear such a question from him. I gave him a generalized answer. He pulled another very important question which I’m still trying find an appropriate answer and the question is“.. with the increasing prices how do you think you a common can manage a family?, in my case (auto driver) – I didn’t not study well, started drinking in my early age and got confused finally now driving an auto.”. He also gave me a common man’s example, If a person is working in a company and earning 8000/- and after all pf and other deductions (office food, travel) if he gets 5000 which he allocates 5000 for rent + food + basic necessities + provision stuffs for a month, with the given trend of increase if the same person is asked to pay 6000 in place of 5000 what will he do, the worst case is he will lend the remaining amount from outside. If that happens for 4 months, the fifth month will he pay try to repay or will he manage his expenses?….. It was a valid one. I did not have any answer for his question; I told him that the person should cut down his expenses. He came back with a very strong question – What can we do, (this time it was direct, I could sense that the example he quoted was directly related to him) we can’t stop eating since the price of rice has gone up, we can’t stop taking bath as the price of bathing soap has gone up, we can’t stop the hair from growing – we need to get it trimmed, we cannot stop going to the nursing home/ hospital and buy medicines when we fall sick. The examples that he quoted hit me hard, very hard. I replied with a simple answer, if such is the case the person should not get married – he even had an answer for that. “I’m not married Sir”. That was the end my answers, I had no more left. I was completely taken black, for one moment he literally dragged me from the world where I live to the real world where he lives. He made me realize the gap between the income and saving is extending more and more when it comes to the lower, lower middle class. What can be done to improve their situation?

On the other hand we the next generation people who landed up in some IT/ITES/BPO company with nothing less than a 5 digit salary getting credited every month to our bank account, enjoying the life for the first three weeks and then cursing the Manager and the Company on the last week of the month (Manager for rating you less in year end appraisal, Company for paying you less). We always live in our world; think that no one in this world has bigger problems than ours, the reality is completely different from what we think.

Back to the auto driver story, I finally reached my destination (we had agreed on the travel fare as Rs 60/-). I handed him a hundred rupee note, he came back with the constant answer that most of the auto drivers deliver. “No Change sir”. I asked him to give me what ever he had and he gave me Rs 20/- back. Though I paid Rs 20/- more than what we agreed, That 20 rupees taught me a great lesson and gave me an insight of a common man’s life and the problems that he faces and more important – It made him smile and it made me think.

Now it’s your turn, yes. Sitting on a cushion chair, carrying a fancy mobile, zooming on a motor bikes, hanging out Friday night and partying hard on weekend and thinking how to increase our pay package, dreaming about the next onsite opportunity…….I ask you onse simple question and you don’t have to answer it.
– “What will be your answer for the question posted by the auto driver?”

Thanks for your time,
Until we meet again…..

Welcome back...

Have you ever felt a sweet breeze in life that turned into an hurricane ripped through, left you alone - right its the first time for me and I'm recovering from the post effect. It thought me a good lesson, do not build castle on clouds, in addition to that it also thought me "you will get what is meant for you, if its not for you - no matter how hard you try it will slip away from your grasp." All I can say is that, it was a sweet experience that made me stronger from inside.

Me - getting back on track. Racing - Photography - Music. I'm can see the real Birumanand coming back from the den.

what we dont see

Welcome back, The world is a beautiful place to live in/on. The reason i'm saying this is, we often miss out on the special things that remain close to us, me who had nothing to do over the weekend started exploring with my camera and got few good shots. I always envy-d my neighbours garden... "its always the neighours flower that looks better than your garden flower". I could not resist the natures invitation to capture the beauty on my camera.... here's the result.

Now, i leave you to rate the above picture....
as a part of my photoshoot i managed to capture few more shots... here they are...

Teri Deewani

Welcome Back,

I know for the fact that its been some time since i made my mark here, my blog. I'm sorry I will try to visit my virtual space often. If you are one of those readers who had already visited my space in the past, then you would have got an idea how crazy am i when it comes to music. Yes, I'm that kind of person - when i like a song i listen to it for days together... i do, its hard to believe but i'm that kind. The reason i'm digging about my behavior is that, recently i got hooked to a number from the movie Notting hill - "Ain't no sunshine when she's gone", that crossed over in two weeks. This time its "Teri Deewani/Diwani" from Kailash Kher that drove me crazy and still driving me crazy for the last 2 + weeks, I have created a playlist out of that song and listening to it all night. As you all know that i'm a kind of person who prefer to follow the lyrics more than the music, i recommend number. Its a slow number, but after 20+ seconds that song takes a turn and make you dissolve in lyrics. There is one particular line i love it, "haste haste aashiq suli chadh jaaye". I know would be thinking what's wrong with this person to fall in love with this song, especially after reading the above line, the answer is - I Just can't help it.

My second life, the one with my camera is quite interesting. I managed to capture some moments that people think its not important and from an artist's prespective its very important. The other day i was getting ready to office, i saw two kids on the road (brother and sister). I really feel sorry for those kids coz i made them stand under the hot sun and i requested them to wait for a minute. I ran in, grabbed my camera, fixed my Tamron lens, i was out in a flash. I was surprised to see those kinds standing out. It normally doesn't happen when you ask kids to wait so that you can go in an grab your camera to take a shot, i guess i was lucky. I managed to pull one good shot of 4 i did that day. I took some 5 shots, and showed one of them to the kinds and asked whether they like it or not,(i always to that to see their reaction). The result was positive, they smiled immediately. That's the one below.

I guess i should have tried my hands on photography when i got my first camera. People always ask me what do i shoot with, The images out of your camera looks good - I always blast those people. Photography is an art, and you can take better pictures with a mobile phone too. I was once advised by a wise man called srini when i was searching for a camera. When i wanted to buy a D-SLR i asked him whether to go for a Canon 400D or Nikon D80. I got one shocking response from him, "All you younger generation people always run after the technology and the gadgets, its not the camera that captures the image its the person behind the camera that does the work" and he suggested me to go for Canon 400D as it was fitting my requirement and my bank account. I didn't take his advise seriously then but i respect his advise now and i give the same when some one approach me asking which camera to buy. Most of them are interested in going for a D-SLR.

Here are few important questions things that you should answer

1. Are you planning to become a hardcore photographer?

2. What is your budget?

3. How often are you going to use your camera?

4. Are you more concerned about the size of the camera?

5. What do you look in for a camera?- Good zoom, picture quality, easy to use something like that.

well - If you are not a hardcore photographer then i would suggest you to go for a simple point and shoot camera. The budget is not a big thing to discuss, thanks to Korean and Japanese technology. You can get hold of a good 6 or 8 mp camera with decent optical zoom for less than 7ooo rs. Many people think that having a bigger camera is a matter of pride and they will be in a position to capture good shots - That's rubbish, with the technology advancing day by day you get things in a pocket size camera that you used to get in a big box camera few years back.

Here are few things that you have to look in to a camera..

1. The Sensor and the Megapixel - Any thing over 6 is good. You really can't find the difference on a picture (6x4 printed one) between a 6 mp and a 10+mp camera. I guess you will be wasting your money if you want to go for a camera above 6mp.

2. The Optical Zoom, there are cameras that offer you big DIGITAL zoom - They are good for nothing. Select a camera with 5X optical zoom, if you are really lucky you can get your hands on to a Kodak Zoom camera which comes with 8+X optical zoom.

3. The Battery life and the type of the battery - Do not go for a camera that uses AA / AAA batteries, agree they are cheap to replace, the pain of charging them is the flipside and you cannot get more than 100 shots with flash on. Go for a camera that provides you 300+ shots of battery life.

4. The comfort level - If you lift a camera, your index finger should reach the push button, your thumb should be in a position to Zoom in and out.

5. Brand - Its is important but this should not be the major driving factor. If you are satisfied with a camera with all the above features from a Kodak/Samsung and you have the same product in Sony. I would recommend you to go for a sony only if the price difference is less than 2000. Other wise it doesn't make sense going for a good brand.

With the above points - I believe i have managed to confuse you more, but it make sense only after you purchase a camera.

until my next post...

Keep smiling,

Birumanand.

My Vaio - Under attack

Welcome back,

I'm Happy now, after head cracking laptop problem now my Vaion is clean. I tried to crack for Photoshop cs3 and downloaded a zip file, My bad luck was pushing me too hard, that my symantec autoprotect shield which was ON, failed to detect the virusand when i opened the ZIP file i failed to do the normal process, that's right - Right click and scan for Virus. I was under that assumption that who is going to plant a virus in my system through a crack file. When i opened the file, ka boom - a shocking surprise was waiting for me. I guess i was worng, most of the virus/worms/trojons/malware softwares are planted through the crack files. My Vaio gave a blue screen and shut itself. This wonderful incident happened on saturday night at half past 2, the whole weekend i was trying to find a fix but my laptop didn't allow me to, you know why....
My yahoo mail was blocked, Google search was blocked, Microsoft update sites were blocked and so the other Virus scan sites. As you always know the power of a evil brain is unlimited, I spent three days trying to fix the issue but nothing happened. I went to the stage of restoring my OS to an earlier date backup and uninstalling the Symantec and Installing AVG anti virus, a ray of hope appeared - My AVG identified the infected files but failed to identify the file that was causing the infection.
The power of evil brain - I logged on to the third party proxy websites that would allow me to do Google, but then i was not sure what to search for, coz my problem was , I was not able to log on to Yahoo mail, unable to perform google search, unable to access microsoft sites........ and so on. Ting - "The sound of mind bulb glowing", I have seen in MSconfig that one particular process which keeps running every time i shut down and restart my Vaio, even after i remove it from Msconfig start, it appeared again and again and again.... I deleted the DLL file which had the name "bgvx..... .Dll" from system32 directory , I logged on to another users account that does not have the permission to wtire data to C:/windows/System32 directory. I got an error message, unable to find the dll file. Then it struck me that it was the Virus file (wait for the twist in the post). I was able to perform google search, access my yahoo mails i was on track. I copied the process name that use to run in MSconfig, googled with the name, Bang - got the results. It was some crap virus with XML extenstion that creates the DLL files and hijacks information from your comp. I was half way through, I found the problem but yet to find a solution, then came the rescue.... It seems i was one among the infected people who had the same problem. A series of discussion that lead me to two tools "HiJack This" and "ComboFix".
Solution
I went with ComboFix, I managed to download the file, Its a simple exe file, 2.5 mb in size, but it did the job which Major Antivirus software's failed to do - Symantec, AVG.... It took me 20 minutes to clean my Vaio, the process was sooo simple... double click the tool and it does the rest for you, does a series of 25 scans , deletes the infected files and restarts. Finally it also prepares you a status report.... Cool, the virus was an XML file which caused the whole event, recreated the dll files and made an entry in Msconfig - Startup directory, can you believe it. I will have the log files uploaded to my blog soon.

This was an interesting incident, the whole incident reminded me of a saying that goes like this "Often big things come is small packages...." - A 2.5 mega bytes file did the trick.

until my next post ...

Enjoy every day of your life...

Birumanand.
